What are you thankful for this year? I read an article a couple of weeks ago talking about the importance in us showing gratitude. Gratitude has been scientifically proven to improve our lives physically and emotionally.
Thanksgiving is almost here. Many families have a tradition of sharing one thing each person is thankful for. Pastor Philip shared the other day that he makes it a spiritual practice to write down 100 or more things from the past year he's grateful for.
The words of Jeremiah are of thankfulness:
He is thankful for God's continued provision in his life. No matter what, every day God is with him. From this passage, the well known hymn "Great is Thy Faithfulness" was written. The man who wrote it, Thomas Chisholm has a wonderful story, take a moment and read about him. The choral of the hymn goes like this:
This week, take some time to sit down and think about how God has provided for you in the past week, month, and year and thank him for his continued provision.
Thoughts to Ponder:
- What are things that God does to provide for me that I take for granted?
- How can I take Jeremiah's words to heart?
- What can I do to honor all God's done in my life this past year?
