As a deer pants for flowing streams,
so pants my soul for you, O God.
My soul thirsts for God,
for the living God.
-Psalm 42:1-2, ESV
I knew I wouldn't have time to journal other than our workshop for a while, so I decided to do one more page today. Our workshop next week is going to use Intense Pencils so I decided to give them a try. This Psalm has been only mind for a while so I thought it might be time to dive in to free sketching. Up until this point, I've only done stenciled, stamps, and free hand lettering. This is my first time drawing. I'm not overly happy with the shape of my stream, but overall, I'm happy with it.
I started with page prep using gesso. Then, I sketched it out with a pencil to get the general shape of what I wanted and started to layer in the tree first using the Intense Pencils. Then I moved to the water, then grass, then sky (although you can't see it in the picture). This page took much longer than all the others I have done, but I really like how the tree came out. These pencils are a lot of fun to use.
