It may seem like a strange passage for J.D. Walt to start a daily devotion with, but if you think about it, Ezekiel is in a time of struggle when God appeared to him. Ezekiel probably felt like time was standing still while he was in exile. He was separated from everything that felt familiar and safe. It was during this time of darkness that God showed himself.
Many times in our life, God uses struggle to build us up and reveal himself. In my own experience, I have seen that when life is good, it is easy for me to rely on my strength. When life is difficult, I rely on God and seek him.
The purpose of the 21 days is to create space so that we can focus on God and hear his voice. Times don’t have to be difficult for us to meet God. What matters is that we are seeking him.
