How it Helps
Who Gives a Crap kept showing up on my Facebook feed time and time again. I guess Facebook figured I was just crunchy enough to be interested in environmentally friendly toilet paper. Add after add, Who Gives a Crap just kept showing up.
I was intrigued. I investigated the company and learned that they used bamboo so that they had less of an impact on the environment. The company was started when it’s founders learned that 40% of the world doesn’t have toilet paper, contributing to diarrheal transmitted diseases. The company started as a crowd-funded project. Today, 50% of their profits help build toilets for those in need.
Why We Tried It
Now, know what you’re really wondering is if the toilet paper is any good. My husband is one of the toughest critics of toilet paper. Last year, when they did their Christmas themed box, I decided to give it a try. When the box showed up, he asked me why on earth I bought a case of Christmas wrapped toilet paper. The look on his face was priceless when I told him it was because it was environmentally sustainable.
9 months later, we still use the paper. I love that I have complete control over the shipments. A few weeks before it’s schedule to ship out, I get an email asking me if I’m ready for my next box. If we don’t need a box yet, I can delay the order. I don’t have to remember to do this on my own! This is so much better than my other auto-monthly orders. We have ours set on a 3-month delivery.
It’s soft, strong, and doesn’t leave pieces of toilet paper on you. That’s the important part, right?
Now, I just get the toilet paper, but they have other things you can buy too that help their cause. You can also get tissues and paper towels. We hardly ever buy these things. I stopped using paper towels 3 years ago, and just wash lots of rags. If you’re a paper towel user though, this would be a good way to go.
Give it a Try
I encourage you, give it a try and see what you think. The worse thing that will happen is that you have a lot of toilet paper to decorate with at Christmas time.
