I discover Rareform as I was searching for my supplies for my daughter for Kindergarten. I wanted to try and find her as many items that were environmentally sustainable as she started a new school. It seemed like the perfect time. She will be attending a school that wears uniforms, so the drastic change looked like a good one to do a turnover.
One requirement for me is that a product still is just as good quality even though it's environmentally sustainable. I don't want to feel like I have something that's second rate to support my desires to help the Earth.
This company is amazing. They started on Shark Tank with the idea of taking used billboards and turning them into bags. What a great way to be sure billboards don't end up in the trash.
I've ordered 4 items from this company. First, I ordered a matching set for my daughter for school. However, when the backpack arrived, it wasn't quite large enough for her. I was able to process the return right away, get a credit and purchase a new bag. My daughter decided to keep the pencil case and get a different bag. I have also bought a backpack for myself as well, as mine from seminary has started to fall apart. So far, I have been pleased with them. The added bonus of them being waterproof is helpful when carrying my laptop.
I did also find out during my research that Patagonia uses environmentally sustainable materials in their backpacks and other products. They use hemp, cotton, recycled down, recycled nylon, tencel lyocell, yulex, recycled polyester, reclaimed cotton, and more. Learn more about their efforts here.
