We all fight the the sinful nature within us. We often have the desire to do the right thing, but feel powerless to follow through with doing what is right. Or, we might do what is right for a short period of time but can't keep up the strength to fight our sinful nature.
This feeling, of fighting our sinful nature, is when we are in bound by something in our life and need to be set free from it. When we gave our lives over to Christ the first time and were redeemed by grace (see yesterday's article), we were freed from the bonds of sin, but often times, there are certain things that are stronger that keep control over our lives.
Freedom from these things that make us feel trapped in our sinful selves is what fasting and prayer helps us with. It allows us to focus on God and double down in prayer so we can seek God daily for freedom from this bondage. It frees us a little each day. We start by seeking God to release us and we end by praising God for the work he has done in our life.
Katie Schenck shared in her story this morning how God taught her how to be still and listen, then shared how he was going to use her physically limitations for his glory. Take a moment and hear from her.
