We pray the Lord's Prayer in the Traditions Service (8:00 and 11:00), and sing it in the Connect Service (9:30) every Sunday. During these 21 days of morning worship services, we have been ending our services praying it together as well. One of the phrases we pray is "on earth as it is in heaven."
Another way you could say that, is was are praying that we might bring heaven to earth. We want God to be glorified here on earth, just as we will glorify him in eternity. We want God to be known here on earth, just as he will be known in eternity. And of course, we want to obey God here on earth, just as we will obey him in eternity.
We must align ourselves not just with the will of God, but with the goal of heaven. So many times, Christians get their "hell insurance" and go about their way. They disregard all that God has done while they live here on earth. That's not what God has called us to do though. He wants us to live now, as if we are living in heaven. He wants us to help usher heaven here on earth. He wants us to do his will now.
What would your prayers look like today, and this week, if you prayed that God would help you live your life as if you were living it in heave on earth? What if you were living it so that every day was lived to glorify God? What would change?
Take some time to hear what Ron Garriga shared in our services this morning, how God showed he had a purpose for his life.
